A convenient alternative to a wall switch, the stylish SinkTop Switch from InSinkErator is air-activated and easily mounts to the sink or counter top. It is also ideal for island installations. The SinkTop Switch is for use with all disposers (must have AC power below sink.)

Which outlet is "Always On" vs. Air Switch Toggle

After reading Jim's answer regarding plugging a dishwasher into the 2nd outlet [probably not a good approach] I learned that the switch toggles power between the two outlets of the unit. One gets power after the switch is first pressed [let’s call it A] and while that is the case the other outlet [let’s call it B] is w/o power. When the switch is pressed again it turns off power to "A" and power is restored to “B”. If that is the correct understanding then the outlet that has power before the air switch is initially activated “B” could be considered "Always On" or perhaps more accurately Mostly On. Is this an accurate understanding of the unit’s functionality? If so are the outlets marked in any way that would make this clear or at least make one distinguishable from the other? Is it safe to assume that the single outlet model of this switch strictly acts as a toggle with power going on and off when the air switch is pressed?
Hi Feanor,

I am Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service.

Yes, your understanding is correct that when you push the SinkTop Switch button of a Dual Outlet SinkTop Switch, you switch the electrical power between the two outlets on the power module. This feature allows a second appliance to be plugged in (such as an InSinkErator Hot Water Dispenser) and momentarily interrupts its power to run the disposer. The power module automatically turns the second appliance back on when the disposer is switched off.

There are no markings made as power module outlets are controlled by an internal alternate-action switch. This means either one or the other outlet will be energized at all times. You just have to take note that when your disposer is OFF, the other appliance that you plugged in to your Dual Outlet SinkTop Switch is ON.

You are correct that for a Single Outlet SinkTop Switch, the power button of it serves as an on and off device for the unit plugged in to its power module.

Can I run seperate water supplies to the tank and cold water dispenser

I want to run chilled water to the cold water dispenser but not to the tank for the hot water. Can I do this?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Yes, you can run separate water supplies to the hot side and cold side of your F-HC-View hot water dispenser. The faucet assembly comes with two separate copper lines that serve as the water supply line to your unit. The copper line with the white sticker is the supply line for the hot side, while the copper line without any sticker is the supply line for the cold side of your faucet. Kindly ensure that the water pressure supplied for both will be within the acceptable range of 30 to 120 PSI. If you have questions, you may call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

do you have a hose extension kit / recommendation? my disposal is in the way and supplied hoses are too short

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with the installation of your unit. The InSinkErator faucet comes with three lines approximately 16 inches in length to connect to the tank. Please make sure not to extend the lines from the faucet connected to the tank. We also do not have available extensions for these. These lines may be shortened, but not extended. The supply line to your water source is the only line that may be extended. If you have questions, you may call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

can I update from a badger 1 unit to the evolution compact disposal with the current electrical wiring in place on the badger. Also what is the width

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Yes, you can update from a Badger model to an Evolution model. While none of the Evolution models are similar to the size and plumbing dimensions of a Badger model, the closest would be the Evolution Compact disposer. All InSinkErator disposers would require a 15-20 amp circuit. You may check the available online specification sheets through www.insinkerator.com for complete information regarding size and electrical requirements of these models. If you need further assistance, you may also call InSinkErator AnswerLine through 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

hums but does not grind. spins free with wrench.

Reset not tripped. Hums with switch on. When I rotate with wrench, seems to spin ok. And nothing visible in top area.

Help!

Thanks!
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your disposer. Kindly check the troubleshooting steps below and try it again if you have missed a step.

1. Make certain that the disposer's switch is in the OFF position. Also, be sure the water is not running during the procedure.
2. Looking under the sink, locate the hole, dead center, at the bottom of the disposer.
3. Insert the self-service wrenchette (or ¼ inch Allen wrench –short end) into the hole.
4. While holding the wrench up in the hole, attempt to make a complete revolution. The wrench should turn freely in a complete revolution, both clockwise and counter-clockwise. If you meet resistance in either direction, work the wrench in a back and forth motion. You may use force if necessary. You will know you are applying too much force if the entire disposer begins to turn.
5. Once the wrench is turning freely in a complete revolution both ways, remove the wrench from the hole.
6. With power still OFF to the disposer, look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening. Hold the black flaps back and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight. Look to see if you can see anything that that might still be binding the plate or that you might have dislodged. Do not put your hands into the chamber. Pay special attention to the area around the outer edge of the disposer's shredding disk. There is a small space between the "floor" (flat surface of the shredder disc) and the wall of the disposer. Follow the circumference of this ring, carefully checking the space, to see if you can locate anything that should not be there. If you locate something, use a pair of pliers or tongs to retrieve it. Again, do not put your hands inside the disposer.
7. Turn the faucet on and run water through for 15 – 20 seconds.
8. Turn the switch for the disposer to the on position to check if it is operating correctly.

In case you won’t be able to rotate the wrench freely 360 degrees, please try the steps below.

1. Make sure the disposer is electrically OFF.
2. Hold the black flaps back, and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight.
3. Do NOT put your hands inside the disposer.
4. Pay special attention to the area around the outer edge of the disposer's shredding disk. There is a small space between the "floor" (flat surface of the shredder disc) and the wall of the disposer. Follow this space around the circumference of the chamber, to see if you can locate anything that should not be there.
5. If you do locate something, use a tool such as a long tongs or pliers to grab it. See if you can pull it out. If it is wedged too tightly, obtain assistance from another person and have them pull on the object from the top, while you work the wrench from below. Again, do not place your hands inside the disposer.
6. If you successfully retrieve the object and the wrench is turning freely, remove the wrench from the hole. Turn the faucet on and let the water run through for 15-20 seconds.
7. Switch the disposer on and check if it is operating correctly.

If these steps still won’t resolve the issue of your disposer, please send me an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and serial number of your disposer and I will get in touch with you. Thank you.

Replacement sink baffle for all InSinkErator Evolution Series disposers. The Quiet Collar Sink Baffle helps reduce disposer noise, prevents food and water from splashing upward and is removable for easy cleaning. The antimicrobial feature of the baffle helps to inhibit growth of odor-causing bacteria. Not for use with Badger disposers.

how do the wires hook up green to grd srew white ? black?

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Please make sure to never reuse old power cords. As for your question regarding proper wiring of the disposer to a brand new power cord, if you have 2 black wires coming from the cord, you may check if the cord has smooth and ribbed sides. If there are smooth and ribbed sides, then kindly connect the smooth side to the black wire of the disposer and the ribbed side to the white wire of the disposer. The ground wire of the cord should be properly secured to the screw of the disposer. If you have questions, you may call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.
