The Evolution Compact food waste disposer is perfect for small households and houses with restricted cabinet space.

Can the soundproofing shell be removed on the 555SS model?

I have a 12 year old Model 555SS. I had to remove the soundproofing shell to install it due to an adjacent cabinet wall ( 3 5/8" from disposal centerline) Can the shell be removed on the current 555SS model? or is there a better replacement choice?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. All InSinkErator disposers, including the trim shell of these units, are machine assembled. We do not recommend that the trim shell be removed. Manually disassembling the unit is somewhat of a complex process which would be very difficult for the majority of our consumers and if not performed correctly, could damage the unit. In addition, modifying the unit is such a fashion that would void the warranty. We have several disposers that have narrower widths which may fit your sink. You may refer to the specification sheets available online which would show the dimensions and plumbing hook up of our disposers. If you have questions, you may send your complete contact information through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com and I will get in touch with you. Thank you.

Can I put a mango pit in my insinkerator evolution 100?

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service.

Unfortunately we do not have a "list" of specific food items that should not be placed into the disposer. There are just too many different types of food waste for us to be able to do this. However, for the specific food item that you asked, yes you may grind a mango pit in your Evolution 100 provided that you follow the correct grinding procedures to prevent possible clog issues. When using your disposer, always run it along with a moderate flow of water. Continue to run cold water for a few seconds after grinding is complete.

The disposer can even dispose of bones. In fact, grinding bones keeps the shredding components in the disposer clean and moving freely. They also create a scouring action that will scrape off leftover particles inside the disposer that may cause odor. Fruit pits from peaches, nectarines, plums, etc. do a good job of this too.

You may check this link for more information about disposer do’s and don’ts: http://www.insinkerator.com/en-us/H....

The F-2000S Water Filtration System Plus is designed for exclusive use with InSinkErator water dispensing systems. It reduces particulates, chlorine taste and odor, plus cysts, lead, mercury, and other impurities allowing you to enjoy better-tasting hot beverages. It has a 1/4 in. quick-connect fitting and is replaced easily without contact with used filter material.

At what micron level are particulates and other contaminants filtered out?

Can you explain how fine the filtering is? Is it above or below 1.5 microns?
Hi wendyconway,

Good day!

The F1000 Filter is a Class III Filter for particulate size. That carries a 5µm≤x<15µm rating. (5-15 micron).

The F2000 Filter is a Class I Filter for particulate size. That carries a 0.5µm≤x<1.0µm rating. (.5-1 micron).

does the badger 5 work in australia on 240 volt

Hi Nelly,

Thank you for contacting InSinkErator.

Unfortunately, the model Badger 5 is not manufactured for overseas markets. The Badger 5 is a disposer that is engineered and designed for sale in North America and meets any and all electrical and certification required to do so. It is not meant for sale elsewhere as it does not meet electrical and required certifications. If installed outside North America, then Badger 5 carries no warranty.

Due to the differences in electrical requirements, if it is installed outside of North America, we do not and cannot recommend use of a transformer with the disposers. One does not always receive the service one should from the disposer using a transformer.

With that said, you may find the information below helpful. First is a link to the InSinkErator Australian web site.

http://www.insinkerator.com.au/

Once on this site please select ‘Products’ and you will find that the Evolution 100 and Evolution 200 are sold and available in Australia, same with the models 45, 55, and 65.

Also, here is the contact information for our Australian office. They would be able to answer any questions concerning the products available in your region.

Does the filter remove rust and lead? Is the filter recyclable?

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service.

The F1000S and F1000 replacement filter cartridge reduce particulates, chlorine taste and odor for clean, refreshing taste.

The F2000S and F2000 replacement filter cartridge is the model that would reduce lead, chlorine taste and odor, mercury, cysts, asbestos and other impurities. For more information, you may refer to the specification sheets of these models available online through www.insinkerator.com.

Regarding your question if the filter can be recycled, filter cartridges cannot be reused. It does not have any replacement parts. We recommend that the filter cartridge be replaced every 6 to 12 months at the rated capacity or if a noticeable reduction in flow rate occurs.

May I also ask if you are inquiring about parts of the filter that can be recycled? If so, we recommend that you contact the nearest local recycling agency in your area for proper disposal of your filter cartridges.

This InSinkErator Instant Hot Water Dispenser system, which includes a Hot1 model dispenser and 1/3 gallon copper tank, provides 190°F near-boiling water for a variety of uses. Designed with convenience in mind, the Hot1 features a simple, low profile design with an easy-to-use handle. Enjoy hot water right when you need it - now.

can you replace the heating element for the HOT 1 model?

Hi! my InSinkerator HOT 1 model just stopped functioning. I have only had it for a bit over a year. My theory is that the heating element is no longer
working. if so, will I be able to replace it or will I have to purchase a new one?

thanks!
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your hot water dispenser.

The dispenser takes approximately 12 – 15 minutes to reach its target temperature. If you have allowed this amount of time for the unit to heat and still have no hot water, check that the dispenser is connected to a properly grounded electric outlet with continuous power and that the circuit breakers or fuses are in good order.

An easy way to check the outlet is to unplug the dispenser (as with any electrical appliance, appropriate cautions should be observed when removing the plug from the outlet), obtain a working nightlight or other working small appliance such as a mixer, and plug it into the outlet to see if it will run. (If you have a disposer that has a cord and plug, do not use this as your test product. The outlet may be hooked up to a wall switch and may only receive power when the switch is turned on.)

If the dispenser was not receiving continuous power and this has been corrected, please be advised that during the start-up heating cycle, you can expect to hear gurgling or hissing sounds within the tank. This is normal. The unit may boil briefly on initial start-up until the temperature sensing system reaches equilibrium. This is also normal.

If you have determined that the outlet has continuous power, have given the dispenser time to reach peak temperature and still have no hot water, it could be an internal issue. Your dispenser has a thermal fuse, thermostat, and element that control the heating of the water. The thermostat and thermal fuse are available as parts. If the issue is due to the element, the entire unit would need to be replaced and you may require service or replacement at this time.

In case you have already tried the troubleshooting steps provided but the unit is still not working, kindly send me an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and serial number of your dispenser and I will get in touch with you.

Thank you.

The new InSinkErator Invite Contour Instant Hot Water Dispenser faucet in Chrome with twist activation handle includes a 2/3 gallon stainless steel tank that delivers up to 60 cups per hour of near-boiling water. It has a stylish, sleek chrome and black design that offers tool-free tank connections and dry-start protection for installation convenience. Instant hot water dispensers sit right on the edge of your kitchen sink, the perfect complement to your faucet.

I installed the Invite Conture hot water dispdeser and after two+ hours the water is only slightly warm.

I tested the power source and it is working. I flushed out the tank with three gallons of water prior to plugging in the tank. I also have since moved the temp dial to max without noticing any difference.
I bought this at Lowe's today 9-23-2014.
I had a older model that I replaced with this new one.
I believe the unit is bad and I should return it to Lowe's for an exchange! What do you think?
Hi Brett,

I am Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service.

I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your brand new hot water dispenser.

This is normal. The unit may boil briefly on initial start-up until the temperature sensing system reaches equilibrium. This is also normal.

Kindly monitor your dispenser and if the same issue persists, kindly contact us through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com or call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700 so that we can discuss about the in-home warranty coverage of your unit.

Thank you.

A convenient alternative to a wall switch, the stylish SinkTop Switch from InSinkErator is air-activated and easily mounts to the sink or counter top. It is also ideal for island installations. The SinkTop Switch is for use with all disposers (must have AC power below sink.)

Which outlet is toggled on vs. off?

After reading Jim's answer regarding plugging a dishwasher into the 2nd outlet [probably not a good approach] I learned that the switch toggles power between the two outlets of the unit. One gets power after the switch is first pressed [let’s call it A] and while that is the case the other outlet [let’s call it B] is w/o power. When the switch is pressed again it turns off power to "A" and power is restored to “B”. If that is the correct understanding then the outlet that has power before the air switch is initially activated “B” could be considered "Always On" or perhaps more accurately Mostly On. Is this an accurate understanding of the unit’s functionality? If so are the outlets marked in any way that would make this clear or at least make one distinguishable from the other? Is it safe to assume that the single outlet model of this switch strictly acts as a toggle with power going on and off when the air switch is pressed?
Hi Feanor,

I am Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service.

Yes, your understanding is correct that when you push the SinkTop Switch button of a Dual Outlet SinkTop Switch, you switch the electrical power between the two outlets on the power module. This feature allows a second appliance to be plugged in (such as an InSinkErator Hot Water Dispenser) and momentarily interrupts its power to run the disposer. The power module automatically turns the second appliance back on when the disposer is switched off.

There are no markings made as power module outlets are controlled by an internal alternate-action switch. This means either one or the other outlet will be energized at all times. You just have to take note that when your disposer is OFF, the other appliance that you plugged in to your Dual Outlet SinkTop Switch is ON.

You are correct that for a Single Outlet SinkTop Switch, the power button of it serves as an on and off device for the unit plugged in to its power module.
