Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator® Customer Service. Most food waste created in the kitchen such as vegetable peelings & trimmings, egg shells, coffee grounds, meal scraps and the like may be ground in the disposer. For fibrous materials like celery, artichoke leaves, corn husks or shells (oyster/clam), etc. we recommend the Evolution Series disposers which have advanced grind capabilities and can grind any foods. Don't be afraid to grind small bones or fruit pits either. Grinding these items is recommended because they keep the shredding components in the disposer clean and moving freely. They also create a scouring action that will scrape off leftover particles inside the disposer that may cause odor. We recommend you avoid pouring grease or fat down your disposer or any drain. For more inquiries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com or call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.
