The InSinkErator Badger Series food waste disposers are a reliable and functional choice when affordability is the prime concern. Choose from three models, each with a space-saving compact design.

Is there a reset button? Or a way to loosen it with a wrench? Mine is making no sound...no movement!

Hi Whitey,

I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your disposer.

If your disposer is not making any sound at all, you may follow the steps below.

1. Make sure that power is OFF to the disposer.

2. Look under the sink at the very bottom of the disposer. Locate the red, square, reset button (overload protector) that is toward the outside edge.

3. If you find that the reset button has dropped down (out) approximately ¼ of an inch, gently press it back up. It should remain up and almost flush. If the reset button drops back down (out), the motor may still be too hot to for the reset button (overload protector) to engage. Let it cool down for 3 – 5 minutes and try again. The reset button should stay up (in) after the motor has cooled.

4. Try the disposer.

5. If resetting the disposer is ineffective, check to be sure there is power to the disposer. If your unit has a cord and plug, make sure the wall switch (on/off device) is in the OFF position, unplug the disposer, and use another small appliance in the outlet to see if it is working (after plugging it in, don’t forget to flip the wall switch or other on/off device to the “on” position to test). If your disposer is hardwired, check the circuit breaker to be sure it is on.

If you determine that there is power to the disposer, and the reset is engaged or will not engage, there may be an internal problem with the disposer itself.

In case these steps won’t make your unit work, kindly send us an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and serial number of your disposer and I will get in touch with you. You may also call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

The Evolution Compact food waste disposer is perfect for small households and houses with restricted cabinet space.

Is there an overseas version that is designed to work on 220volts?

Do you make any versions that are designed to operate on 220volts?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. InSinkErator disposers with 220v should be available for purchase in several Baggage Trade outlets in the US. Unfortunately, even though the model may be rated at 220v, since the country of destination would not be known, the unit would carry no warranty outside the U.S. Each country or region has its unique electrical requirement and certifications that must be met. I would like the opportunity to assist you with this. Kindly send us an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information (including the country where you plan to install your disposer) so that we can check who is the available representative overseas. Thank you.

Can I replace my involve view faucet with this one

Purchased the involve series comes with faucet and the system. Can I purchase this faucet and will it work with the water tank?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. If you used the hot water tank that came with the F-H-View faucet, then yes, you can replace it with the F-H3300 and it will work with your existing hot water tank. Please be reminded that the F-H3300 requires a sink hole diameter of 1-3/8” to 1-1/2”. Kindly check the size of your existing sink hole to make sure that the new faucet will perfectly fit your sink. For more information about our units, you may refer to the specification sheets available online through www.insinkerator.com. The Power Cord Kit is easy to install and includes a three-foot UL Listed cord, strain relief clamp, wire connectors and installation instructions. Once installed, disposer plugs directly into a standard wall outlet. This genuine InSinkErator product meets Underwriter Laboratories Inc. SPT-3 category for insulation thickness and moisture resistance.

Hardwiring to insinkerator unit

My old insinkerator unit is directly hardwired to the power cable since there is no outlet under the sink; can the septic assist model also be hardwired without a cord?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Yes, all InSinkErator disposers can either be hardwired or plugged in depending on the electrical connection that our customers have. When purchasing a disposer, please make sure that it has open wires and should not come pre-installed with a power cord as we do not recommend removal of pre-installed power cords. If you have questions, you may call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

The Evolution Essential food waste disposer is the ideal choice for a wide range of kitchens.

Evolution Select Plus makes random clicking sound

We had a new Evolution Select Plus unit installed Sep 26, 2014. It has been used only infrequently (perhaps once per week. - no hard objects like bones or anything else has been put in.) The unit ran very quietly until yesterday. Now it makes a clicking sound as if a piece of metal has been dropped in. We use a screen, so nothing irregular has gone down. Pulled the splash guard, checked the flanges (?) grinders. They appear to be fine and move freely. The sound is irregular, almost as if the flanges are randomly hitting the side of the unit.
Hi DennyK2540,

Thank you for contacting InSinkErator.

I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your disposer.

We understand the disposer is making an unusual noise. Unknowingly, something might have gotten down inside the disposer causing this. If it is making a “machine gun” consistent type noise, something may be caught in the protrusions of the stationary shredder ring. If it is making a “bouncing around” type sound, there may be something that is being thrown around the inside of the chamber. We recommend that you check for this using the following procedure.

1. Make sure the disposer is electrically off.
2. Hold the black baffle back, and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight.
3. Do NOT put your hands inside the disposer.
4. Push the black flaps down. Shine a flashlight into the chamber to see if you can see anything that should not be there. Closely inspect the entire floor of the chamber and pay special attention to the area around the outer edge of the disposer's shredding disk. There is a small space between the "floor" (flat surface of the shredder disc) and the wall of the disposer. Just up from this space is the stationary shredder ring (it lines the entire wall of the canister) which has some small v-shaped protrusions. Follow the circumference of this ring, looking at the v-shaped protrusions, to see if you can locate anything that should not be there. Objects or food debris (such as a bone shard) may be lodged in one of these v-shaped protrusions. This will not impede the movement of the plate, but will cause a loud consistent (machine-gun type) noise as the lugs swing by and hit it.
5. If you do locate something, use a tool such as a long tongs or pliers to retrieve it. Again, do not place your hands inside the disposer.
6. Turn the faucet on and let the water run through for 15-20 seconds.
7. Switch the disposer on and check if it is operating correctly.

If the unusual noise is an “inconsistent” metallic bouncing around or scraping sound, the rotor shredder plate may be loose from the rotor shaft. You may also try the following steps:

1. Make sure the disposer is electrically OFF.
2. Obtain a flashlight and a long-handled wooden spoon or other similar tool.
3. Do NOT put your hands inside the disposer.
4. Push the black flaps down and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight.
5. Shine the flashlight into the chamber. Using the end of the wooden spoon or tool, press on the top of the flat plate (floor of the chamber). It should be firm and not rock up and down like a see-saw. If it does rock up and down, your disposer will require service.

In case these steps won’t resolve the issue, kindly send me an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and serial number of your disposer and I will get in touch with you. You may also call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jerica

The Evolution Excel food waste disposer is for those who enjoy the very best kitchen appliances. The ultimate in performance - nothing grinds more with less noise.

My new 1 HP Evolution Excel will hum for a few seconds and then begin to grind?

Is this normal? I don/t want the motor to burn up.
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. The delay before starting of less than 1 second is normal. The Evolution Excel incorporates a microprocessor that when the disposer is first switched on, has to be powered up before it can command the disposer to start. This cycle takes approximately a half a second to complete. The microprocessor is the brain of the Jam-Sensor Circuit™, a unique technology that senses when a jam is imminent and automatically engages, reversing the direction of the motor and, if needed, increasing the rotational torque of the motor while simultaneously pulsing to break through the jam. If you have questions, you may call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

The Evolution Cover Control Plus batch feed food waste disposer provides the extra assurance of covered operation. Activated by the magnetic CoverStart switch, it runs only when the cover is on.

Does liquid pass through (newbie question)

Wondering if the chamber fills up with liquid (like, water) and device must be run to empty chamber, or if water and other liquids just pass through down the drain as they would in a normal drain.
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. When one runs water through the sink and disposer, as long as there is no clog or plumbing issue, water and other liquids will just pass through down the drain as it would in a normal drain. If you have questions, you may always call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.
