Specifically designed to muffle disposer noise while preventing water and food particles from splashing up. Installs in seconds with no tools and is easily removed for cleaning. Not for use with Evolution Series and E606 disposers.

Does this baffle work with the Badger 5 model?

Will I need a new flange?
Hi JeanKarpen,

Yes, the Removable Sound Baffle is designed to be used for previous InSinkErator deluxe and current standard disposers like the Badger 5. There is no need for you to replace your existing sink flange if it was manufactured by InSinkErator and if it is still in good condition. However, this is not the correct item if what you need to replace is your disposer’s mounting gasket.

I have included below the links for the InSinkErator removable sound baffle and mounting gasket for your reference.

Thank you.

The InSinkErator Badger Series food waste disposers are a reliable and functional choice when affordability is the prime concern. Choose from three models, each with a space-saving compact design.

How do you make disposal stop making noises like chains clanking around when turned on?

There are two grinders inside that move around 360 degrees on a round bolt head. When you turn on disposal it makes a very bad racket like chains clanking around or like someone dropped steel ball bearing inside disposal. Are the two grinder teeth suppose to be tight or loose. It has just started making this noise in the past two weeks. The disposal is less than 6 months old.
Hi Derek,

Thank you for contacting InSinkErator.

I do apologize for the inconvenience that you encountered with your disposer.

We understand the disposer is making an unusual noise. Unknowingly, something might have gotten down inside the disposer causing this. If it is making a “machine gun” consistent type noise, something may be caught in the protrusions of the stationary shredder ring. If it is making a “bouncing around” type sound, there may be something that is being thrown around the inside of the chamber. We recommend that you check for this using the following procedure.

1. Make sure the disposer is electrically off.
2. Hold the black baffle back, and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight.
3. Do NOT put your hands inside the disposer.
4. Push the black flaps down. Shine a flashlight into the chamber to see if you can see anything that should not be there. Closely inspect the entire floor of the chamber and pay special attention to the area around the outer edge of the disposer's shredding disk. There is a small space between the "floor" (flat surface of the shredder disc) and the wall of the disposer. Just up from this space is the stationary shredder ring (it lines the entire wall of the canister) which has some small v-shaped protrusions. Follow the circumference of this ring, looking at the v-shaped protrusions, to see if you can locate anything that should not be there. Objects or food debris (such as a bone shard) may be lodged in one of these v-shaped protrusions. This will not impede the movement of the plate, but will cause a loud consistent (machine-gun type) noise as the lugs swing by and hit it.
5. If you do locate something, use a tool such as a long tongs or pliers to retrieve it. Again, do not place your hands inside the disposer.
6. Turn the faucet on and let the water run through for 15-20 seconds.
7. Switch the disposer on and check if it is operating correctly.

If the unusual noise is an “inconsistent” metallic bouncing around or scraping sound, the rotor shredder plate may be loose from the rotor shaft. You may also try the following steps:

1. Make sure the disposer is electrically OFF.
2. Obtain a flashlight and a long-handled wooden spoon or other similar tool.
3. Do NOT put your hands inside the disposer.
4. Push the black flaps down and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight.
5. Shine the flashlight into the chamber. Using the end of the wooden spoon or tool, press on the top of the flat plate (floor of the chamber). It should be firm and not rock up and down like a see-saw. If it does rock up and down, your disposer will require service.

In case these steps won’t resolve the issue, kindly send me an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and serial number of your disposer and I will get in touch with you. You may also call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700.

Thank you.

I wants on use in 100 Volt / 50Hz environment can this be customized for me

Hi Sprigs,

Unfortunately the Evolution Excel disposer is only manufactured for use in the U.S. and Canada. It is not certified for use, or compatible with, the electrical requirements of countries other than the U.S. and Canada. If installed outside these countries, the unit would carry no warranty.

We do have however Evolution Models available in your region. I have provided for you a link with additional information concerning the models and products available in Japan. I have also included the contact information for our representative in your area. They will be able to answer any questions you may have concerning our products.

I need to replace my badger 9. Where can I buy a replacement.

Can I replace badger 9 with 5XP and expect the same performance?
Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Badger 9 was an exclusive model that InSinkErator manufactured for Home Depot. Still from the same store, the current unit similar to its features would be the Badger 900. Also, you are correct that Badger 5XP (an open line model) has the same features with the Badger 9 disposer. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com or call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

Replacement sink baffle for all InSinkErator Evolution Series disposers. The Quiet Collar Sink Baffle helps reduce disposer noise, prevents food and water from splashing upward and is removable for easy cleaning. The antimicrobial feature of the baffle helps to inhibit growth of odor-causing bacteria. Not for use with Badger disposers.

Does This fit Model 1-81 SN TG69169735

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. The Quiet Collar Sink Baffle is specifically designed for Evolution disposers. If you need to replace the mounting gasket of your Badger 1 disposer, you would have to get the InSinkErator Mounting Gasket Kit with model code MGK-00. This kit includes one standard mounting gasket and one deluxe mounting gasket. Please make sure to use the standard mounting gasket for your Badger 1 disposer. This kit can be purchased through home improvement centers, plumbing supply houses or online stores. You may also check this link for your reference: http://shop.insinkerator.com/p/insi.... For use on septic...

I've always been told you cannot use a disposer with a septic system. Of course there's a model with an enzyme injection system. But I'm wondering what the issue is to begin with? We are a family of 4. 2 adults, 2 kids. Our tank was installed in 1966...I'm guessing it's 1000 gallons, single compartment, no effluent filter. Basic setup. We have it pumped once every 2 years. Been living here for 15 years. No issues. We are remodeling our kitchen and are going to install the Evolution Excel. I want to be able to grind anything and everything (except we won't go to the length of grinding bones...that just doesn't seem right). If we're already sending body waste and toilet paper down to the tank, what's the problem with sending ground up food? Isn't it basically the same thing? (In terms of texture...maybe not the same in terms of decomposition since human waste's already got a head start). I can't see the point in getting a disposer that's got the liquid. If you have to spend $20 four times a year, might as well just have the tank pumped yearly. It's the same cost. Thoughts????
Hi Metainath,

You are correct; there has always been a misconception that a disposer use is detrimental to a Septic System. This is simply not true. Even conventional InSinkErator disposers have always been safe for properly sized septic systems. For example, if your system is sized for a dishwasher or clothes washer, it can handle a disposer. After all, a disposer uses only about as much water per day as one flush of a toilet. But there are additional advantages when you choose the Septic Assist Disposer if you use products similar to Rid-X. I have included below a link for additional information concerning our Septic Assist Disposer.

If you would like some additional generic information concerning disposer use and Septic Systems, please send an email to insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your request.

Insinkerator Badger 1/3 Horsepower

My unit stopped working and my mother-in-law put a hex key in the bottom of the unit to try and get it to work. I pushed the reset button and it began to work but the hex key is stuck in the bottom of the unit. When I tried to unscrew the hex key it just turns no matter what direction I turn. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
