Bio charge is not being fed
I installed the disposal a year ago. Bio charge container sis still nearly full. Does not seem to be feeding solution properly
Hi Birdsog,
Your disposer has a solenoid that injects a small amount of Biocharge into the chamber every time the disposer is turned on. The amount injected is approximately 1/3 teaspoon, so there are about 295 uses per bottle. This is a small amount and so, dependent upon how often the disposer is used, the level in the bottle may not appear to be dropping. You can check to be sure that the disposer is injecting the biocharge using the following steps:
1. Obtain a large (approximately 10 ¾” x 11) clean, dry, sheet of paper towel (preferably white).
2. Roll the paper towel into a cylinder and using a ruler, mark a line 5 inches from one end.
3. Insert the marked end paper towel into the chamber of the unit until the line is level with the top of the sink flange.
4. Do NOT put your hand into the chamber; simply hold the paper towel above the level of the sink flange.
5. Do not run water, but flip the switch on and off one time. You can simply turn it on and then off right away. There is no need to let the disposer run.
6. Pull out the paper towel and check to see if there is any blue residue. If there is blue residue on the paper towel, it would indicate that the solenoid is ejecting the Biocharge into the chamber. Properly discard of the paper towel, taking care to avoid contact with the Biocharge residue on it. As indicated on the bottle, take care to avoid contact with eyes, open cuts or sores. In case of eye contact, flush with water for 15 minutes. Check with physician. Wash hands after contact.
If you will not see any blue residue on the paper towel, kindly send us an email through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com with your complete contact information and I will get in touch with you. You may also call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700.
Thank you.
