Hot 1
on my 4 year old Hot 1 the output has slowed down quite a bit, it takes some time to fill a coffee cup I have a sadle valve on the main waterline ? could it be the valve of the Hot ! ?
Hi this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. I’m sorry for the inconvenience that your unit may have caused you. Your hot water dispenser is designed to deliver water at one ounce per second. An easy way to check the flow rate is to obtain a heat resistant mug that is 8 ounces, dispense water into the mug, and using a clock/watch with a second hand, time how many seconds it takes to fill the mug. If the 8 ounce mug fills in 8 – 12 seconds, the flow rate of the dispenser would be considered normal. If it takes longer than 12 seconds, you may have a reduced/slow flow. Slow water flow can be attributed to several reasons and I have listed some things you can check:
1. Check to make sure the main water supply is turned on.
2. Check to be sure that the dispenser water supply valve is fully open. If a self-piercing saddle valve is used, close the saddle valve completely (turn the “pin” all the way in) and then turn it so that it is fully open.
3. Check to be sure you have enough pressure to the dispenser from your supply. You need at least 30 PSI pressure to the dispenser for it to operate correctly.
4. If a filtration system is used in conjunction with the hot water dispenser, check to see if the filter needs to be changed, is properly inserted and pressure after water leaves the filter meets the dispenser’s minimum requirement for PSI.
5. Check for any kinks in the line to the faucet.
6. Debris or deposits could be partially clogging the aerator. The aerator is screwed on to the end of the spout. To check this area, unplug the dispenser (as with any electric appliance, appropriate cautions should be observed when removing the plug from the outlet), and run the water until cool. Unscrew the aerator and check to see if the screen in the aerator is clean and clear. If not, clean it by running water through it in the opposite direction. (If required, replace the aerator.) Reinstall the aerator on to the spout and plug the dispenser back in.
As the water in the tank is now cool, during the start up heating cycle, you can expect to hear gurgling or hissing sounds within the tank. This is normal. The unit may boil briefly on initial start up until the temperature sensing system reaches equilibrium. This is also normal.
If you find that you are unable to correct the problem, the dispenser may require service or replacement at this time. In addition to the above there may be a partial blockage with the tank or faucet assembly itself.
