This citrus-scented InSinkErator Bio-Charge Cartridge Replacement for Evolution Septic Assist disposers is a cost-effective enzyme treatment. Bio-Charge contains a natural microorganism that helps break down food waste and a citrus scent to help control odors from the sink and drain. Bio-Charge is only for use with the Evolution Septic Assist disposer, and will last 3 to 4 months with average use. One cartridge of Bio-Charge equals 4 bottles of other septic treatments.

The Jam-Buster Wrench is a quick, effective tool to help free simple jams in your InSinkErator manufactured disposer. Insert the hex wrench into the center hole in the bottom of the disposer and turn back and forth to free the jam. Works only on InSinkErator manufactured disposers.

How do I release the blades on my 1-83 badger garbage disposal?

We were away for two months and it was not used. It hums but the blades do not turn. I have tried the allen wrench underneath and it won't budge.
Hello BrightBonnie,

I do apologize for the problems your having with your Badger 1-83. You did say you tried the allen wrench on the bottom, already but I want to make sure all steps were performed properly so I an including the steps for a jammed disposer below.

Each InSinkErator disposer is shipped with a self-service wrench. The wrench is silver colored, and shaped like a little crank, about four inches long. If you can not find the service wrench, you can use a standard 1/4 inch Allen wrench. If you do not have your self-service wrench, and would like one, please let us know and we would be happy to send it out at no charge.

1. Make certain that the disposer's switch is in the OFF position. Also, be sure the water is not running during the procedure.
2. Looking under the sink, locate the hole, dead center, at the bottom of the disposer.
3. Insert the self-service wrenchette (or ¼ inch Allen wrench –short end) into the hole.
4. While holding the wrench up in the hole, attempt to make a complete revolution. The wrench should turn freely in a complete revolution, both clockwise and counter-clockwise. If you meet resistance in either direction, work the wrench in a back and forth motion. You may use force if necessary. You will know you are applying too much force if the entire disposer begins to turn.
5. Once the wrench is turning freely in a complete revolution both ways, remove the wrench from the hole.
6. With power still OFF to the disposer, look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening. Hold the black flaps back and look down into the chamber from the sink hole opening with a flashlight. Look to see if you can see anything that that might still be binding the plate or that you might have dislodged. Do not put your hands into the chamber. Pay special attention to the area around the outer edge of the disposer's shredding disk. There is a small space between the "floor" (flat surface of the shredder disc) and the wall of the disposer. Follow the circumference of this ring, carefully checking the space, to see if you can locate anything that should not be there. If you locate something, use a pair of pliers or tongs to retrieve it. Again, do not put your hands inside the disposer.
7. Turn the faucet on and run water through for 15 – 20 seconds.
8. Turn the switch for the disposer to the on position to check if it is operating correctly.

If the unit is still jammed after follow the above steps, please contact our AnswerLine at 800-558-5700 for further assistance. If possible please have the serial number of the disposer available when you call. The serial number will be on a silver tag about the size of a bandaid. It is located on the bottom edge of the disposer. Thank you.

A convenient alternative to a wall switch, the stylish SinkTop Switch from InSinkErator is air-activated and easily mounts to the sink or counter top. It is also ideal for island installations. The SinkTop Switch is for use with all disposers (must have AC power below sink.)

Would satin nickel match satin stainless steele?

Hi Jane,

This is Jim with InSinkErator. Finishes are very subject, especially with dealing with those that are similar. Brushed stainless is a little brighter or lighter in color. To assist you, I am including a link to all the finishes that are avail for the Sink Top Switch. This should give you a good example of how that finish would match your satin stainless steele. Also, many Home Depots have metal disk samples of the actual finishes that you can look at and compare.

This is Jim with InSinkErator. I do apologize for the problem your having with your SinkTop switch. If you have verified that the air tube is correctly connected to the button and to the Switch Box, there may be a problem with the Switchbox or the bellows in the button. Please call our AnswerLine at 800-558-5700 and we can go over some additional steps to try and resolve your issue.

The SinkTop Switch carries a one year over the counter warranty and can be returned to its place of purchase if found defective.

The InSinkErator stopper is designed to stop water and food particles from traveling down the drain. For use on all InSinkErator manufactured disposers, the stopper is easy to insert and remove from your sink drain. The stopper is available in a wide range of designer colors to complement many kitchen decors.

I have had my new Insinkerator disposal for about 6 months. The stopper with it no longer holds water for even a few minutes. Any suggestions?

Hello bnabill,

This is Jim from InSinkErator Customer Service. I'm very sorry to hear that you’re experiencing problems with the stopper on your InSinkErator disposal. To properly address your concerns, I'd like the opportunity to further discuss your issue. If you could send your contact information to insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com we can go over some steps to determine the source of the problem and possible solutions. It would also be very helpful if you could obtain the full model and serial number from the disposer and send that also.

The full model and serial number can be found on the specification label. The serial number will start with S/N followed by 2 letters and 8 numbers, or S/N followed by 11 numbers. The specification label is silver in color, about the size of a large band-aid, and is located on the side of the disposer very near the bottom edge. If you know where the red reset button is on the bottom of the unit, the specification label can be found on the side of the disposer closest to the reset button. Please be sure power is off to the disposer when checking for the specification label.

Sincerely
Jim Z.

The InSinkErator Dishwasher Connector Kit is a fast and easy way to connect a dishwasher drain to the disposer. The kit includes an inlet connector, hose clamp, and 3 spring clamps.

Does this eliminate the air intake above the sink?

Our old dishwasher was hooked up to the disposal so we also hooked up the new one. Can you eliminate hooking the dishwasher to the aerator on the sink surface and just hook it directly to the disposal? We are replacing our old insinkerator badger with a insinkerator evolution spacesaver.
Hi Marksgirl,

This is Jim with InSinkErator. What your are referring to is called the Air Gap. In some states, local building codes require you have to have an air gap for a connected dishwasher. This requirement varies state by state. You would need to check what your local building codes to dtermine whether you can connect your diswasher line directly to the disposer. I hope I was able to address your question.

Air tube came disconnected. When reattached no longer starts the disposal. What else needs to be done?

Tested secondary power source and when plugged in, it turns on but wont turn off without being unplugged.

How does the dual outlet switch work with both a disposer and hot water tank? Does the switch just turn one outlet on and off?

Hi Jeff.

This is Jim with InSinkErator. You are absolution correct. The switch basically acts like a toggle. When you press the SinkTop Switch to activate the disposal, power to one outlet shuts off (the one with Hot Water tank plugged in) and turns on, on the other (the one with the disposal). Press the Switch again and it goes back to its original configuration. Since the loss of power to the tank is very short this will not cause a problem with the tempurature of the water in the tank. If you have any other questions about your InSinkErator products, please feel free to contact our AnswerLine at 800-558-5700. Thank you for your question.

Replacement sink baffle for all InSinkErator Evolution Series disposers. The Quiet Collar Sink Baffle helps reduce disposer noise, prevents food and water from splashing upward and is removable for easy cleaning. The antimicrobial feature of the baffle helps to inhibit growth of odor-causing bacteria. Not for use with Badger disposers.
