The switch quit working.
The switch was working fine, now nothing. I checked the outlet, surge protector.
Hi Linda,
This is Jim with InSinkErator. I do apologize for the issue you are having with the disposer or switch.
I have included some troubleshooting steps for your Sink Top Switch. If you look under the sink, you will see a clear plastic tube wherein one end is connected to the push button switch and the other end is connected to the switch box which is plugged into your outlet.
You can check to see if the bellows portion may need replacement using the following steps:
1. Disconnect the clear plastic tube from the spigot at the bottom of the bellows.
2. Unplug the switch box. Double-check to be sure that the other end of the tube is securely attached to the spigot on the switch box.
3. Plug the switch box back in.
4. Force some air into the disconnected tube end. You may, if you wish, blow through the tubing, or find an alternate method of pushing air through.
5. If the disposer turns on, the bellows portion of the switch may need to be replaced.
6. Reconnect the tube to the bottom of the air switch.
If the disposer does not turn on, you have checked to be sure there is power to the switch box, the reset is engaged, and forcing air through the tube does not activate the unit, the issue may be internal to the switch box or to the disposer itself and you may require service at this time.
If this does not corret the issue, please contact our AswerLine at 800-558-5700 or send an email with your contact information to insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com for further assistance.
