A convenient alternative to a wall switch, the stylish SinkTop Switch from InSinkErator is air-activated and easily mounts to the sink or counter top. It is also ideal for island installations. The SinkTop Switch is for use with all disposers (must have AC power below sink.)

What is the diameter of the hole for the air switch? What is the maximum thickness for the countertop?

Hi LarryG,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service. The Sink Top Switch requires a 1 1/4 inches diameter hole. The maximum countertop thickness is 1 3/8 inches.

The InSinkErator Mounting Gasket Kit includes two replacement sink gaskets to be used in conjunction with specific InSinkErator disposer models. Refer to the included installation instructions for quick and easy gasket replacement. Not for use with Evolution Series and E606 disposers.

Please list all models, as per 'documention'

It would be nice to have a list of models this item will work for so that every person interested in it doesn't have to ask a unique question.

Does the f-2000 improve the TDS readings?

Total Dissolved Solids is measured at my unfiltered tap and compared to the instant hot F-2000 filtered water shows no difference. Should the filter lower the amount of TDS in the water?
Hi Elau,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service. Unfortunately, we do not test for TDS specifically. However, this is an excellent filter that has adhered to stringent criteria in order to achieve NSF53 Certification. Please send me an email at insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com and I would be happy to provide you with the F-2000 Performance Data Sheet.

average cost per month to operate?

Sold this unit (HOT 1) to a customer about 1 month ago and he is claiming an electric bill that has doubled in this time. Also stated that it seems to always be running and hot to the touch. Do you have any info I can pass along? He has always had a hot water dispensing unit in his house for 25 plus years and never had trouble until he installed the HOT 1.
Hi,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service.

Studies have shown that using an instant hot water dispenser to provide near-boiling water can save energy. You can determine your cost of operation with an easy to use formula. You will need to know your local cost per kilowatt hour. This can usually be found on your energy bill or by contacting your local energy company.

To determine the total cost, you will need to determine the “standby” cost and the “dispensing” cost and add them together. Please see the following formula:

Standby Cost: 0.95 kWh x your “cent’s per kilowatt hour” = standby cost
Dispensing Cost: 0.021kWh x # of cups used per day x “cents per kilowatt hr.” = dispensing cost
Total Daily Cost: standby cost + dispensing cost = total daily cost

As an example: The average cost for electricity in the US is $0.0986 per kilowatt hour. Let’s use 10 cups as our number of cups used per day.

Standby Cost: 0.95 kWh x $0.0986 = 9.3 cents per day
Dispensing Cost: 0.021 kWh x 10 x $0.0986 = 2.1 cents per day

Total Daily Cost: 9.3 + 2.1 = 11.4 cents per day

Do filters have an expiration date? I was thinking of buying ahead for a year or more. Or would it be better to buy fresh as needed? . Please advise.

Hi KCIII,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service. The Replacement Filter Cartridges don't have an expiration date.

Can this instant hot be used with reverse osmosis water?

Hi green,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service. At the present time, there are no national standards regarding such compatibility. In the absence of a nationally recognized standards, InSinkErator can make no claim regarding our products’ compatibility with other filtration systems and we can make no claim regarding our products’ compatibility with other filtration systems and we can neither discourage or recommend the use of such systems in conjunction with our Instant Hot Water Dispensers.

However, we can share some facts with you.
RO Systems produce highly purified water which makes the water very “aggressive.” That is why RO faucets are completely plastic. Our dispenser faucets are brass constructed. Additionally, RO System can produce very low water flow rates, which hinder the performance of the instant hot water dispenser system. At water line pressures significantly lower than 30 PSI, the dispenser may drip. Either of these two situations could lead to dissatisfaction, which is why we’ve introduced the first filtration system designed specifically for use with our Instant Hot Water Dispensers.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, you may contact the AnswerLine at 1-800-558-5700. Thank you.

SinkTop Switch full of water

Over the holidays, we discovered the Insinkerator single-outlet SinkTop Switch on our Evolution contained water (likely from dishwashing) and no longer turns on the disposal. When depressed, a small amount of water will shoot out of the top. Also, when depressed I hear a clicking noise at the plug-in device in the wall outlet, but nothing else. The disposal does not respond. I've tried un-plugging, checked the circuit breaker and the GFI's, but so far it still does not respond. It's been over a week now and water is no longer in it. Both are 16 months old. What do you think it is and what options do I have to repair?
Hi JamesG,

what effect does bleach have on the Badger 5XP

Hi Lorin,

This is Belle from InSinkErator Customer Service. Exposure of bleach at some point within the life span could cause corrosion on a disposer.
