Hi Tinamik,
Sometimes, when it appears that the disposer is leaking from the bottom, the water is actually leaking from a higher place like the mounting assembly. We need to determine exactly where the leak is coming from by following the steps below.
1. Run the disposer and water for a few seconds as you normally would.
2. Turn off the power to your disposer. If your unit has a plug, unplug it from the outlet. If it is hardwired, shut the power off at the circuit breaker.
3. Take a dry paper towel and wipe along the top mounting area, working your way down the sides of the canister to determine where the water is coming from.
4. Wipe along the dishwasher connection if you have a dishwasher connected to drain through the disposer.
5. Carefully wipe around the discharge drain connection.
6. Check the bottom of the disposer.
If the disposer is leaking behind the trim shell or leaking directly from the bottom, the disposer will need to be replaced. In the meantime, keep it unplugged/disconnected from the power and keep a bucket underneath to catch any water.
