Use of F-201R filration with HWT-F1000S Hot Water Tank

I had a SST-FLTR (which uses a F-201R filter) installed in 2009. The hot water tank was damaged during a power outage, so I purchased a HWT-F1000S replacement. I installed the new hot water tank but since I had purchased extra F-201R filters and the new F-1000 filter system that came with this unit requires a different size water supply line, I just mounted the new heater and reconnected the lines to use continue using the existing F-201R filter. Is this okay for operation of the HWT-F1000S or do I have to install the F-1000 filter system? Thank you.
