The InSinkErator Badger Series food waste disposers are a reliable and functional choice when affordability is the prime concern. Choose from three models, each with a space-saving compact design.

Prosgrinds so well the disposal line does not clog, it is much quieter than our previous disposal, it was easy to install
Both of our disposals are the same brand and model. Our first disposal (after 10 years of use) started to leak from the screws that hold the top of the disposal to the bottom.
The new disposal seems to grind faster and food into smaller bits. The disposal is also quieter than the first and we have not had any clogs in the disposal tubes.
It worked so well that my neighbor went out and purchased the same model as mine when his disposal tube from the dish washer kept clogging.
Yes, I recommend this product.

How do I unclog the badger 9

It depends on what is clogged. If it the line from the dishwasher, disconnect the hose and clean it. If the water is backing up into the sink try using a plunger with the water and the disposal running. If this does not work try a drain cleaner.

Can I replace a Badger 10s with a 5 or 5xp without replacing the existing mounting bracket already in-place under my sink?

As far as i know the mounting brackets are universal. The only difference is the size of the motor.

I currently have a Badger 1 which is 10 years old and the plastic housing has acquired 2-3 cracks in it and is now leaking.

Can I hook up the 5XP to the existing Badger 1 mounting bracket?
According to Badger the only difference between the two disposal units are the motors. So the mounting brackets should be universal.
