Prosinexpensive, does the job it's supposed to do, the extended warranty is 2 years
Conscase is prone to cracks since it is plastic.
I bought this disposal because we thought we were going to see the house and needed a cheap disposal, but we didn't sell.
I STRONGLY recommend the extended warranty simply because these disposals are known to develop a crack in the case and leak-- as did ours. Even with the 2 year warranty the cost was still under a $100.
I installed mine which for anyone with some mechanical ability is easy. It saves several hundred in plumbers fees. Had we not purchased this one I would have purchased a much higher grade model for several hundred dollars.
It does the job and does a good one. Hopefully the case does not develop a crack.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have power to the switch but the unit does not come on, not even a hum
Is there a fuse or something in the unit that I can change?
You might have tripped the breaker. Use your wrench on the bottom and see if it's locked up by trying to move it back and forth. Touch the reset button and then power. If nothing works since you didn't state the age, buy another one.

Do I need to replace the sink flange & plumber's putty if my old Badger 5 (installed 4 years ago) is the same as the new replacement unit?
I would replace only the putty. If the flange is messed up in any way replace otherwise keep it.

What are recycling options for faulty disposals?
Recently replaced my Badger 1 after 10 years duty. Wondered if you have a recycling program for the old unit? Seems a shame to send it off to the landfill.
There isn't any. Mine went to the landfill.

I have a model I - 37 and am getting a new stainless steel sink. Is there a special adapter I need to buy or can I use a universal one?
Use the universal one that's attached to the sink. No big deal.
